Climate Change Alters Soil Water Dynamics under Different Land Use Types

چکیده
Land use and management affect soil hydrological processes, the impacts can be further enhanced accelerated due to climate change. In this study, we analyzed possible long-term effects of different land types on processes based future climatic scenarios. Soil moisture temperature probes were installed at four sites, a cropland, vineyard, meadow, forest area. Based modeling changes in water content (SWC) using HYDRUS 1D model, found that precipitation have more pronounced effect than air temperature. Cropland is highest risk inland SWC values above field capacity (FC). The number days when average are FC expected increase up 109.5 days/year from current 52.4 by 2081–2090 for cropland. Our calculations highlight has per year where below wilting point (99.7 days/year), worst-case scenario, it 224.7 days/year. However, general scenario-based estimates showed vineyards most vulnerable projected change study highlights limitations potential specific agricultural areas, emphasizes need implement retention measures keep these settings sustainable.

Soil Erosion Under Different Land Use and Cover Types in a Marginal Area of Portugal
According to the CORINE programme, Spain and Portugal are the Mediterranean countries in the European Union facing the greatest risk of erosion (Desir & Marín, 2007). In Portugal, areas at high risk of erosion cover almost one third of the country (Grimm et al., 2002). The main causes of soil erosion are inappropriate agricultural practices, land abandonment, deforestation, overgrazing, forest ...

Vulnerability of soil separates to detachment by water is described as soil erodibility by Universal Soil Loss Equation which can be affected by land use change. In this study it was attempted to quantify the changes of Universal Soil Loss Equation K-factor and its soil driving factors in three land uses including rangeland, rainfed farming, and orchards in Babolrood watershed, northern Iran. S...
متن کاملClimate Change or Land Use Dynamics: Do We Know What Climate Change Indicators Indicate?
Different components of global change can have interacting effects on biodiversity and this may influence our ability to detect the specific consequences of climate change through biodiversity indicators. Here, we analyze whether climate change indicators can be affected by land use dynamics that are not directly determined by climate change. To this aim, we analyzed three community-level indic...

A forest is a biotic community predominated by trees and woody vegetation that are signifi cantly taller, greater, thicker, and deeper than other vegetation types and generally covers a large area (Chang, 2003). Forests cover approximately 26.2% of the world, with 45.7% of Latin America and the Caribbean being covered, 35% of East Asia and the Pacifi c, and 35% of the European Union. Canada and...
متن کاملLand use as climate change mitigation.
As the international community works to develop a postKyoto framework for responding to climate change over the next several decades, policymakers should give serious consideration to broadening the range of management strategies beyond those conventionally defined as “mitigation”. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) mitigation concerns “implementing policies to re...
